Adorably nerdy, baby-faced Michael Cera and super-cute brunette Mary Elizabeth Winstead are teaming up for Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, a quirky action romance based on a graphic novel.
Cera, last seen burning up the screen as the impregnator in Juno, will play a slacker who meets the girl of his dreams, played by Winstead, who had a role in last year's Live Free or Die Hard. In order to win said dream girl's love, he must do battle with her seven ex-boyfriends.
The film is based on the graphic novel Scott Pilgrim Volume 1: Scott Pilgrim's Precious Little Life. Edgar Wright will direct.
In other Cera news, the actor will appear in the comedy Youth in Revolt with Ray Liotta and Jean Smart. Based on the popular novels of C.D. Payne, the film features Cera as Nick Twisp, a brainy, sexual teen surrounded by idiotic adults. Liotta will portray a cop involved with Twisp's mother, played by Smart. Once the relationship goes south, the cop tries to get even with Twisp's mom by going after her son, accused of arson. The film begins shooting in July.
