Billboard is estimating that Michael Jackson's estate has earned nearly $1 billion since the King of Pop passed away unexpectedly last June 25. Part of the money came from a lucrative new record deal with Sony Music, as well as This Is It, which is reportedly the most successful concert film…ever. Jackson's album catalog generated about $383 million in sales since his death and about $34 million in digital sales and while Jackson was a pop icon who would generate a shit ton of cash regardless of his "breathing status," interest in Jackson and his music and other assorted artistic endeavors certainly ballooned post-mortem. Additionally, there are plenty of Jackson memorials to account for! This Is It was another monster revenue generator; it earned $72 million at the U.S. box office and $188 million in theaters overseas, and the DVD has earned $43 million in U.S. sales and $25 million in rental revenue, according to the Billboard number crunchers.

Jackson's estate made about $130 million from his music publishing rights and about $35 million from licensing.

What do you miss most about Michael Jackson? The chance for him to make new music? The chance to see him perform hits like "Billie Jean" or "Man in the Mirror" live?
