Miike Snow To Release New Album, 'iii'; Drop Lead Single "Genghis Khan"

Swedish/American trio Miike Snow have announced its first studio album since 2012's Happy to You, the band's third studio album, aptly titled iii. The album is slated for release March 4, 2016 on Downtown/Atlantic Records.
Today, the group released the album's lead single, "Genghis Khan," what's being called a "powerful pop anthem with a soulful edge." It's a tune that has the same shuffling beat and propulsive rhythms of a song like "Animal," and is streaming now over at the Miike Snow YouTube channel, or below. Also, check out the truly strange clip for "Heart Is Full," the first release from iii that dropped last month (a meta track of sorts, sampling soul singer's Marlena Shaw's "Waiting for Charlie to Come Home," that was featured in Apollo Brown & Guilty Simpson's "The Cook Up," a song also sampled here).
The album was pieced together over two years, members Andrew Wyatt, Christian Karlsson, and Pontus Winnberg collaborating between Stockholm, Los Angeles, and New York when they could, and sometimes virtually, sending ideas and songs back and forth. Karlsson said about the process: "I think that's the whole magic with this band. We have so much trust and respect for each other…nothing comes together easier than Miike Snow. The pieces just fall into place."
iii is available for pre-order starting today at iTunes and all digital retailers, and comes with three instant grat downloads: "Genghis Khan," "Heart Is Full," and Run the Jewels remix of "Heart Is Full," which you can hear below.
