Missy Elliott Drops "WTF (Where They From)" Featuring Pharrell Williams

Today (November 12) Missy Elliott dropped an unexpected bomb on the pop world: A sick, thumping destined-for-the-club banger to rival the likes of "Work It" and "Get Ur Freak On," and one of a scattered few new songs she's released since 2005's The Cookbook. And the video for "WTF (Where They From)" just takes it over the top.
As Wired put it: "Hip-hop goddess incarnate Missy Elliott surprised the whole world this morning by dropping a video for her new track "WTF" with Pharrell Williams. It's amazing. If it was being described by Stefon on Saturday Night Live it might go something like this: "This video has everything. Missy rapping. Les Twins, who have been rocking Beyoncé's latest tours. Missy with disco ball lips. Lens flares. A Pharrell marionette…" But the best thing it has doesn't come until the very end, when a group of dancers hop on those two-wheeled self-balancing scooter thingamabobs. What's crazy, though, isn't that they're dancing on them—that's been done before—it's that they're breakdancing on them. Like, they're doing rotating floats and handstands and all kinds of other crazy moves. It's freaking awesome. Missy Misdemeanor, it's so good to have you back."
Check out the video here and try not to get your hopes up this means a new album's in the works. "Fans have been here before, with the odd track being unexpectedly released but no album proper, for the best part of a decade," says The Guardian.
"What it is is a welcome bit of weird, fun pop that exists in its own pristine bubble. Get Ur Freak On."
