Multi-platinum Grammy Award-winner Monica is set to release her highly-anticipated seventh studio album, New Life, on Nov. 29 on RCA Records. Monica kicked things off with the up tempo buzz single and video, "Anything (To Find You)" featuring Rick Ross, which pays homage to the '90s and her musical idol and friend Mary J. Blige. On the album's official first single "Until It's Gone," Monica flaunts her signature voice on the soon-to-be classic ballad that was written by Jazmine Sullivan and produced by Missy Elliott and Lamb.
Speaking on the album's concept, Monica states "This is a new life for me, it's not just a title of the CD, it's really the place that my family, my kids, all of us are at right now."
With that renewed outlook on life, Monica has joined Feeding America's Entertainment Council in an effort to give new life to the millions of Americans at risk of hunger. On Friday, Sept. 23, Monica represented the organization at the 41st Annual Legislative Conference of the Congressional Black Caucus Issue Forum in Washington, DC. As a panelist on a session about child hunger in the African American community entitled "Is Black America Fit for Life?," Monica will speak about the issue of hunger in America and how it particularly affects more than 1 in 3 African American children.
Hosted by Rep. Marcia Fudge, the purpose of the forum was to equip attendees with information on issues such as obesity, hunger and poverty that are threatening black America (especially its children) and to discuss what needs to happen to reverse these trends. The forum also celebrates what makes the black community vibrant and how the community can build on that foundation to create a better future for black America's children.
