Morrissey Announces UK Show One Year After Saying He Probably Would Never Play In The UK Again

Last year, Morrissey announced that he most likely would never play in the UK again. However, he has just announced an upcoming show in Manchester, UK with Irish singer-songwriter Damien Dempsey. The announcement from his True To You website last September read, "There is absolutely no way that we can generate any interest from record labels in the United Kingdom, therefore the imminent two nights at Hammersmith are likely to be our final ever UK shows. We are obsessively grateful for all interest and loyalty from our audience … throughout 28 years … but without new releases, there is no point in any additional touring. Thank you for so many absolutely incredible times. The pleasure and privilege is mine …"
The announcement of the new show also came from his True To You website, along with the statement, "This will be Morrissey's first appearance in Manchester for four years, and his only 2016 show in England." This of course means that Morrissey will be playing in the UK less than one year after he said he never would again. This is great news for all UK supporters of Morrissey, and hopefully means he will play more shows there in the future.
Morrissey currently has two other European shows scheduled for August. The first will be in Bergen, Norway on the 6th, and the second is set for the 16th in Berlin, Germany. He is also scheduled to play at Riot Fest in Chicago in September.
