    Motel 6 and Primary Wave Music Announce Another Round of "Rock Yourself to Sleep" - The campaign offers free lodging to touring bands

    Motel 6 and Primary Wave Music, one of the largest music publishing and marketing companies in the United States, announce the third round of their wildly popular "Rock Yourself to Sleep" campaign. Initially launched in August 2009, the campaign offers free rooms to touring bands. In this round, six bands will receive two free rooms per night for six weeks at Motel 6 locations across the United States, with two bands being chosen via a free contest running on RockYourselfToSleep.com. The contest will be powered by ReverbNation.com, a leading online music marketing platform.

    If you've ever toured with a band -even if for a few days, as I have- you understand the intrinsic value and luxury of hotel rooms. That means a warm bed, a shower and more space than a van affords. Life on the road is a rough shill, so this contest is ingenious. A hotel room is a commodity when you are on tour. Make no mistake about it. If you have to sleep in a van, ugh! It sucks.

    Here are the details: Bands will have until October 10, 2010 to motivate fans to vote for them in head-to-head style competitions. The ten bands with the most votes will have until October 17, 2010 to have fans vote for them; two winners will be chosen from the five bands with the most votes by a panel of music industry professionals and revealed on October 18.

    "We're thrilled that in a little over a year since its inception, the ‘Rock Yourself to Sleep' brand has grown into a household name within the music industry and beyond. To have a national tour under our belt, two more tours slated for 2011 and a potential international tour in the summer of 2011 at this stage of the game is an amazing accomplishment, " states Devin Lasker, Chief Imagination Officer at Primary Wave Music. "We're proud of the success of ‘Rock Yourself to Sleep' and our partnership with Primary Wave Music," said Olivier Poirot, CEO of Accor North America, Motel 6 and Studio 6. "We're eager to grow our support to more bands to come, knowing that being able to rely on a clean, comfortable room while on tour can really make a difference for young musicians."

    The inaugural 42-city, seven-week "Motel 6 Rock Yourself to Sleep Tour," an extension of the original campaign, wrapped up this past July. The tour included a contest which found three bands to serve as the opening acts for tour headliner Every Avenue. The contest garnered over 34 million online impressions for Motel 6 and the tour's co-sponsors including 1800mattress.com. The line-up for the winter 2011 tour will be announced shortly, followed by a tour in the summer of 2011.
