The Associated Press reports that President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama will mark Black History Month at the White House with a celebration of Motown music, with Smokey Robinson, Sheryl Crow and John Legend set to perform on February 24th. The event will be taped and then broadcast on PBS on March 1st.
The Motown event is the latest in the music series "In Performance at the White House." The Obamas have hosted musical tributes to several genres, including jazz, country and Broadway. Mrs. Obama often hosts daytime programs for students to educate them about the genres and encourage involvement in the arts.
Kudos to Michelle O. for her support of the arts and for having good music bellow through the halls of the White House.
Who would you like to see perform at the White House? Will you watch the PBS special?
