Moving Units Return with Sophomore Album - Dance punks attempt to move units once again

Los Angeles' dance-punk revivalists Moving Units have emerged from their three-year hiatus with the announcement of their long-awaited sophomore album, Hexes for Exes. In their defense, the belated pause between albums isn't entirely their fault; their former label Palm Pictures folded nearly immediately after their debut album's release. Now signed to the indie label Metropolis, Hexes for Exes is set for release on October 9, 2007.

The album is touted as a "new strand of Dance DNA" to cure the stale, retro sounds of their copycats. To help beef up their sound, the band has added an additional member, Victor Velazquez on guitar. As an added bonus to highlight their return, Moving Units will open for The Smashing Pumpkins at this week's San Francisco show. In addition to supporting the Pumpkins, the band has set these initial fall tour dates:

The Fillmore - San Francisco, CA - Wednesday July 25 (supporting Smashing Pumpkins)
House of Blues -Anaheim, CA - Friday August 10
House of Blues - Anaheim, CA - Saturday August 11
Popscene - San Francisco, CA - Thursday October 4
