Drake's album Views may have spent a staggering amount of weeks at the top the charts, but it's the giant 200-disc Mozart 225: The New Complete Edition box set that is the number one selling CD of 2016. That's right, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart may have died back in 1791, but he can still out-swag today's pop artists. According to Universal Music Group, the release has shifted 1.25 million total CDs in the five weeks since it was released on October 28th.

The collection is exhaustive and awesome. It is made up of 200 CDs containing every work of the classical artist, and features 600 soloists and 60 orchestras. It plays for a total of 240 hours, or 10 days.

2016 marks the 225th anniversary of Mozart's death, and UMG's director of Mozart 225, Paul Moseley, said of the set, "It is wonderful to see the reaction to this box set, which is the fruit of years of scholarship, planning and curation. Mozart's immortal melodies, no less than The Beatles or Abba, are in some way part of all our lives – and this Edition is the perfect way to celebrate that on his 225th anniversary."

Mozart 225 was released by Decca and Deutsche Grammophon in collaboration with the Salzburg Mozarteum Foundation and Mozart scholar Cliff Eisen, who also wrote a new biography included in the release.

It's important to note that Billboard counts every CD sold as a single unit, so it does not mean over a million box sets were sold.
