For those of you who can't get enough of Flat Eric—the cute and slightly mischievous yellow puppet of Mr. Oizo (aka Quentin Dupieux)—don't miss the great short film, Being Flat, a Dupieux-directed video for the Red Bull Music Academy's Paris Now! series, a collection of short films being used to "demonstrate the City of Light's vanguard status as a cultural and creative capital." The mini flick features the hilarious Steve Little of Eastbound & Down and Charley Koontz of Community at the Theatre de la Renaissance rehearsing a play that introduces viewers to the first new track from Mr. Oizo since his 2014 album, The Church.
The Paris-based, Ed Banger- and Brainfeeder-signed Dupieux links up with four other filmmakers—Dexter Navy, Romain Cieutat, Anne Horel, and Julien + Adrien—who make up the series, a teaser to the 17th edition of the Red Bull Music Academy conference that will take place in Paris from October 24 to November 27 and brings together "61 hand-selected producers, vocalists, beat-makers, instrumentalists and DJs from 37 countries" for lectures, collaborations, and from the looks of these videos, all-out cultural partying in one of the most famous and artistic capitals of the world.
Dupieux recently gave an interview to RBMA, which you can (and should) read now.
