A modern blend of alternative, hip-hip and electronic music.
No Wyld are the ultimate 21st century trio. The New Zealand group, comprised of Mo Kheir, Brandon Black, and Joe Pascoe, fuse together hip-hop, alternative, indie, and electronic music into a cauldron of awesomeness that bubbles over at all the right moments. The energy on the group's Abstract EP [Columbia] is downright uncontainable, and that's what makes this group so much fun.
Chances are, you've heard their single "Odyssey." The track helped the boys gain worldwide acclaim as it scored a big McDonald's Winter Sochi Olympics placement and started to light up the blog-o-sphere. Now, they're on the fast track to making a massive impact in modern pop culture.
"Odyssey" rallies around propulsive percussion punctuated by natural tones and hyper-charged swagger. The verses remain nimble and deft, dancing between synths with power and panache. At the eye of the storm, there's an undeniable refrain that would be equally appropriate during a playoff game or a night on the dance floor. Moreover, the group's visuals are a gritty and grimy black-and-white that's like a stylized film noir version of The Matrix. They're fascinating on their own, but they augment the music's potency, by allowing the sonic colors to shine even more. No Wyld remains the whole package, hitting all of the senses in the process.
