In the wake of their totally unexpected reunion tour, the iconic noiseniks Jesus & Mary Chain have announced they will be making a new album. This will be the first release since 1998's Munki, which was released on Sub Pop. Though the two brothers have infamously not gotten along, the reunion has seemed to strengthen their relationship, enough so that they will be able to not only be in the same studio as each other, but write new songs.
At their recent Coachella festival performance, the first festival show of their comeback, they unveiled one of these new songs called "All Things Must Pass." Though the announcement of the record has been confirmed, a label releasing the album has not.
The newly reformed band, which consists of founding members Jim and William Reid along with Phil King of Lush on bass, Mark Crozer on guitar and Loz Colbert of Ride on drums, will head into the studio this fall after wrapping up the last of their festival and UK appearances. As a studio warm-up, the band will also be playing a few choice U.S. shows this October. All performances will be supported by two fellow '90s legends Evan Dando of The Lemonheads as well as three shows with Soulsavers featuring Mark Lanegan.
