New Order bassist Peter Hook has announced his newest project, Freebase. Hook has recruited group members Andy Rourke, the ex-bassist of the Smiths, and Mani, the current bassist of Primal Scream and former bassist of the Stone Roses.

The vocal duties in Freebase will be handled by a who's who of Brit-rock, including Tim Burgess of the Charlatans, Bobby Gillespie of Primal Scream, and Liam Gallagher of Oasis.

There is no release date set for Freebase's debut.
