New Order are reuniting for two benefit shows in Europe this fall. Bassist Peter Hook will not participate.
The shows will benefit filmmaker Michael Shamberg, who is ailing. Shamberg was a producer on Pulp Fiction and also shot several New Order videos.
New Order have not played together on stage since 2006.
For these shows, the band will convene at the Ancienne Belgique in Belgium on Oct. 17 and again in Paris, France at the La Bataclan on Oct. 18 in order to raise money for Shamberg, who is currently suffering with a debilitating illness. New Order told NME.com that "Michael (Shamberg) has been with us from the very start. Initially he was in charge of Factory New York (music studio), then became creative producer for all our early videos."
The band also said that "Michael is very ill and needs constant medical attention. We want to help him, and these shows will contribute financial support towards his ongoing care."
Tom Chapman will perform in Hook's stead. Keyboard player Gillian Gilbert will again perform with the group for the first time in 10 years.
