Nickelback singer Chad Kroeger was arrested on June 22nd by the Canadian Mounted Police, after being spotted driving erratically. A spokesman for the court in British Columbia confirmed that Kroeger was tested and found to have a blood alcohol level that exceeded that legal limit.
Kroeger, whose birth name is the less-rock sounding Chad Robert Turton, will appear in court on August 25th to answer the charges. In the meantime, he's singing an apologetic song to his fans. According to his attorney, Marvin Stern, Kroeger "wishes to make it clear to all his fans that drinking and driving is something that should be avoided at all costs." Stern then added that Kroeger was innocent until proven guilty, and should be afforded the same rights as anyone else.
Nickelback's biggest success remains 2001's Silver Side Up, lifted by their signature single "How You Remind Me," although their subsequent album, 2003's The Long Road and 2005's All the Right Reasons, have also done well on the charts. The band has recently been touring in their native Canada.
