Former Oasis songwriter Noel Gallagher turned 50 over the weekend, and had a hell of a party to celebrate another year on the planet and his inclination to "Live Forever".
Noel, apparently a huge fan of Netflix's Narcos, themed his party around the show, and in a self-deprecating tone which referenced his previous drug habit, suggested that it would be a 'coke party'. With a mix of music, a mariachi band was also in attendance, along with a host of (perhaps surprising) guests. Madonna rubbed shoulders with Damon Albarn and Bono (Gallagher will be supporting U2 on their upcoming European dates). Actors Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander were there, along with Little Britain's David Walliams. Fashion designer Stella McCartney also made an appearance.
Also over the weekend Gallagher spoke with Radio X, giving an interview in which he revealed that the follow-up to his 2015 High Flying Birds album, Chasing Yesterday, is ready for release. He said that the album was "done, it's mastered, it's all done." In his usual wit he said he'd "been told" that the release date was set for the November 9th.
During the interview he also spoke about the recent video that went viral on twitter — showing a crowd of mourners singing "Don't Look Back In Anger" during a vigil for the Manchester terror attack. Humbled by the event he simply said that the song was "more important than I'll ever be."
