A fully authorized documentary called One More Chance, depicting the life of Notorious B.I.G. is being made with the full cooperation of the late rapper's estate, and will be released to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Christopher Wallace's death in 1997.
The film will directed by the Malloy Brothers, the duo behind dozens of music videos (Metallica, Blink-182, Jack Johnson, N.E.R.D, Vampire Weekend and more) as well as the White Stripes' Under the Great White Northern Lights concert film.
Dubbed "Notorious B.I.G.: One More Chance", the new film sees Biggie's mother Voletta Wallace, serving as producer alongside Submarine and Bystorm Films. "It brings so much joy to my heart that my son Christopher's music has made such an impact on the music community and his stories have positively inspired so many young men and women over the years, and still influencing the youth all over the world today," Wallace said in a statement.
The project is in good hands, since Submarine previously produced music-related documentaries like Searching for Sugar Man, Miss Sharon Jones! and Nas: Time Is Illmatic.
One More Chance promises to be another historic film as the first documentary to be made in collaboration with the rapper's estate. Voletta Wallace previously gave her blessing to the 2009 biopic Notorious starring Jamal Woolard in the Biggie role; Woolard will once again portray the rapper in the upcoming Tupac Shakur film "All Eyez on Me".
2017 is set to be a memorable year for Biggie fans, with even more projects bringing light to his work and life. Also in development is a scripted comedy based on Biggie's lyrics, Think B.I.G., which will feature Johnny Depp starring as an investigator in the rapper's murder case.
