It is with a heavy heart that we report the death of Aaron Michael Cox, a singer and a songwriter who worked with popular producer duo, Da Internz (Rihanna, Big Sean, Justin Bieber, Chris Brown, Nas). Cox lost his battle with cancer.
In June, and at just 22 years old, Aaron was diagnosed with stage four testicular cancer, which quickly spread to his lungs. The cancer was so far along that Aaron never got the chance to start chemotherapy. How tragic. He was such a talent and he didn't even get a chance to truly fight the disease.
Aaron Michael Cox, a true talent, had penned records alongside Da Internz for pop stars such as John Legend, Greyson Chance, Estelle and Jesse McCartney. He had a blindingly bright future ahead of him, having recently signed a publishing deal with Universal Music Publishing Group. Cox was also closing a major record label deal at the time of his death.
His debut single "Walk Away" hit the net in May and you can listen to it below. It's got a bit of blue-eyed soul style mixed with some classic, '60s style handclaps and beats. It's all anchored by Cox's emotionally resonant voice. You can hear the pain and passion in his voice in this song. It's bittersweet, since it makes you want to hear even more from this young, talented man we lost too young.
Listen to the song below:
R.I.P. Aaron Michael Cox.
