British pop juggernaut keeps San Diego's Qualcomm Stadium on its feet at rapturous tour opener.
One Direction—Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, and Louis Tomlinson—launched their current summer headline tour at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego last Thursday. Packed to the gills with fans, the sold out stadium practically shook every minute of the evening. These cats definitely know how to put on a show. Even if you've never seen them, you'll learn a few things really quickly, and we decided to count those down in this exclusive list.
3 Things You Learn At A One Direction Show
3. The One Direction dudes are clever and rather hilarious. The guys were full of jokes at the tour opener. At one point, Harry asked the audience, "Does anybody like dolphins?" The entire stadium roared back. He smirked, "Don't go to Sea World." It was perfect timing. Meanwhile, Liam grabbed a fan's phone and called her mom. Said mom was completely bewildered asking, "Harry?" to which Liam responded, "It's alright we're all British. We all sound the same." At one point, Harry also jested to a dad towards the front, "Pretend you're at The Eagles." This banter really propelled the show and added a different dimension.
2. They're quite the group of showmen. Niall rocked a guitar, quite deftly and proficiently, the entire night while singing. Also, Louis proudly donning a Black Sabbath t-shirt helped maintain that rock 'n' roll edge with robust delivery of his own. Harry and Liam rounded out the sound elegantly on their own, adding a distinct depth.
1. They're the biggest band in the world for a reason. Even if you've never heard one song, you'll be singing along because they're songs are that catchy! From opener "Clouds" with its big "Here We Go Again" chant to "Steal My Girl" and "What Makes You Beautiful," these tunes stay stuck in your head long after you've left the parking lot, and the boys bring it on stage.
