Yesterday, the news broke that Black Sabbath singer Ozzy Osbourne fell off the wagon, abusing alcohol and drugs for the past year-and-a-half. He has admitted his relapse, but also that he has been sober for 44 days, as well.
He shared the news on Facebook, writing the following post: "For the last year-and-a-half, I have been drinking and taking drugs. I was in a very dark place and was an asshole to the people I love most, my family. However, I am happy to say that I am now 44 days sober."
He also shot down rumors of trouble in his marriage to longtime wife Sharon, which were circulating over the weekend. Those stories must have been a case of some smoke where there was a little bit of fire. He wrote: "Just to set the record straight, Sharon and I are not divorcing. I'm just trying to be a better person. I would like to apologize to [wife] Sharon, my family, my friends and my bandmates for my insane behavior during this period… and my fans. God bless, Ozzy."
We know you can stay sober Ozzy!
We pose this question to you, Sabbath fans and dear readers. What do you think of Ozzy's choice to make the big reveal and disclose his issues? Do you think the fact that he was abusing substances will factor into his performance on the new Sabbath album 13, out June 11? Does it make you more curious to hear it?
