Papa Roach "The Connection" Album Review – 5 out of 5 stars

Papa Roach burst through the gates with all guns blazing on their latest album The Connection. The band has taken all of the sonic elements fans love and fused them into one cohesive, corrosive, and catchy salvo that immediately explodes on impact.
First single, "Still Swingin'," rages with effusive, groovy intensity a la "Last Resort". Jerry Horton's riffing tightens up the attack as Tony Palermo blasts through a funked-out punk beat. Tobin Esperance anchors the sound with a hulking bass rumble, and it's clear that Papa Roach aren't messing around from the jump.
Meanwhile, Jacoby Shaddix, one to never shy away from the truth, opens up like never before here. "Before I Die" teeters between schizophrenic heaviness and the catchiest hook of the band's career thus far—even bigger than anything on Getting Away With Murder and The Paramour Sessions: Deluxe Edition. The singer's voice echoes with heavenly darkness there and on the zombified mosh pit bounce of "Walking Dead". "Won't Let Up" couldn't have a more fitting moniker as it terminates on site with distinct distorted power.
Everything comes to a close on the gripping, pensive "As Far As I Remember". It's confessional, yet universal, and it shows yet another side of this dynamic outfit.
So many bands from the early aughts have come and gone, but Papa Roach are still here, churning out undeniable and unforgettable. In fact, they're better than ever. The Connection is the group's best and one of the year's best hard rock records. Connect now…
