Paris Hilton Sued

Love her or hate her, socialite, fashion designer, perfumer, singer, tabloid darling, sex tape star, and sometime actress Paris Hilton is nothing if not a shrewd businesswoman. Unfortunately for Miss Hilton, Worldwide Entertainment Group, Inc. doesn't feel the same way about her promotional abilities. The company filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Miami against Hilton, claiming that the heiress owes $75,000 in damages for failing to fully and properly promote the collegiate comedy National Lampoon's Pledge This!, in which she had the starring role and an executive producer credit. The film flopped commercially.
In an agreement dating back to 2004, Hilton was to promote and produce the film, but WEG, Inc. claims that it paid Hilton and her company, Paris Hilton Entertainment, Inc., a sum of $1 million for her "acting services" and "reasonable promotion and publicity" for the 2006-released film, and that Hilton did not hold up her end of the bargain. Hilton has not issued a statement on the matter. While $75,000 is a drop in the bucket for the heiress, the company is suing as a matter of principal.
