Passion Pit's Michael Angelakos Reveals Bipolar Disorder

Fans thought something was up last month when Passion Pit canceled tour dates on top of the release of their new album Gossamer, especially when frontman Michael Angelakos cryptically posted a message about the axed dates. He wrote: "In order for me to ensure that there will be no further disruptions, I am going to take the time to work on improving my mental health."
Angelakos, 25, clarified his statement in a chat with Rolling Stone, admitted that he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder when he was 18.
"People don't understand that it's not just debilitating; it's all-encompassing. It's something that you have to work on your entire life," he said. "My depression was so bad three weeks ago when we had to cancel everything -- people don't understand this. It was so bad I was suffering from something called Psychomotor Retardation, which is essentially where your brain starts shutting down your entire body. So you're sitting in bed and you can barely move."
Oh man, so sorry to hear it Michael! We hope you are able to work through it as best you can.
