It’s got special meaning for him
Paul McCartney To Christen New Mets Stadium
While the Beatles once played the first major arena rock show at Shea Stadium back in 1965, Paul McCartney is about to do the same thing with its replacement, Citi Field. The new home of the New York Mets will host McCartney on July 17 and 18. In a statement, he said, “The Beatles were the first to play at Shea Stadium and along with Billy Joel, I was the last to sing at the old Shea. I am really looking forward to a buzzing show.”As for what fans can expect at the gig, McCartney plans on playing material from throughout his career, including cuts from Wings and the Fireman.
