    Restoration hardware!

The Associated Press reports that Paul McCartney will assist in restoring a musical artifact: an 1877 Steinway grand piano used by many Motown musicians!

The piano was picked up on Monday from the Motown Historical Museum in Detroit and shipped to Steinway & Sons in New York for restoration. The process should be completed within five months.

McCartney told museum officials following his July concert at Comerica Park that he wanted to help in the restoration after he learned the piano no longer could be played. What a kind + generous soul Maca is! It's a piece of music history that deserves to be restored.

Steinway & Sons has to assess the piano's condition because a cost can be determined. Company executive Ron Losby said that the piano will be restored in the "same New York factory where it was originally built."

I love when old fashioned music -be it an instrument or a technique- is embraced in the digital age.

    Do you play any instruments?
