Has it really been four years since Sir James Paul McCartney dropped a new solo album? How times flies. The world has certainly changed since the release of New, but that doesn't mean the former Beatles-bassist hasn't been keeping with the times — in 2014 and 15 he found himself working with none other than Kanye West on three separate tracks, "Only One", "FourFiveSeconds", and "All Day". Now he has grabbed Adele producer Greg Kurstin.
Macca told BBC Radio 6, "I'm making a new album which is great fun. I'm in the middle of that. I'm working with a producer I first worked with two years ago on a piece of music I'm doing for an animated film." Those unfamiliar with the name, will be familiar with Kurstin's work. Just last year, he produced tracks for Sia, Gwen Stefani, and all of Tegan and Sara's most recent album Love You to Death. And right before that he co-wrote, produced and played most of the instruments on Adele single, "Hello." And at the GRAMMYs he picked up four golden gramophones.
Talking of Kurstin, Paul said, "he went on to work with Beck and got Best Album of the Year with Beck. Then he went on to work with Adele and has just got Song of the Year, Record of the Year, with Adele, of course and just got Producer of the Year."
It seems as if all the stir over the past year has put Macca back in the music-making mood. He recently took a break from his own recording sessions to join former Beatles bandmate Ringo Starr in recording tracks for Starr's own forthcoming record. McCartney also has four upcoming gigs in Tokyo, Japan set for April 25th, 27th, 29th, and 30th.
