Paula Abdul to Serve as Mentor, Coach and Producer on Got to Dance

While Paula Abdul's biggest claim to fame is her work as a judge on American Idol and her string of pop hits in the early '90s, she is returning to her dance/choreographer roots with Got to Dance, a new CBS reality talent competition series. Abdul was a noted choreographer before her singing career took off, so this series is right in her wheelhouse. She will serve as lead judge, executive producer, creative partner, mentor and coach on the show, which is based on a hit series in the UK.
The show is being billed as the first all-ages, all-genres dance series -- "from ballroom to break dance, bhangra to ballet, and tap to tango." Acts will compete in front of a panel of judges, while viewers are provided with the chance to vote for their favorites during the semifinals and finals. So it's essentially American Idol for dancers. The Hollywood Reporter broke the news.
