There are a lot of young rappers out there vying for the crown. In fact, it feels as if the world's just waiting on that one MC to emerge, blow away the competition, and rise right to the top at light speed. At the same time, in the download and streaming age, is it possible to get another superstar on the level of Eminem or Jay-Z? Well, the answer to that is, and the guy who's going to take the throne next is Logic.
He's preparing his formal major label debut, but you've got to start paying attention to the Maryland artist now. Logic has an intense story, and he communicates it within his bars, but at the same time, he pens undeniably catchy hooks. His last mixtape Young Sinatra: Welcome to Forever weaves together like an artfully crafted, timeless album. He spits verses with deft wordplay and a slick cadence that's immediately impressive. Nas has quoted his lines back to him. That's how powerful Logic is when he picks up the mic.
You can really hear that talent come through loud and clear on "Alright" featuring Big Sean. In between a hypnotic chorus of, "Hold up, let me get my mind right", he assures, "You know everything is alright". The verses themselves roll forward with his rapid fire flow taking over and transfixing. He practically never stops and, on a closer listen, the pictures he paints stick with you like a great movie.
There's no doubt about it. Logic is the future of hip-hop, and he's going to change the game when his debut for Def Jam drops. Get on his movement now because he's headed right to the top.
