It's 10 mil for Ten.
Pearl Jam's debut album Ten has officially sold a whopping 10 million copies. That's a major milestone in the modern musical era and that album is most certainly a classic and one that set the tone for a genre and a generation.
Ten is only the 22nd album in history to reach that sales high watermark since Soundscan began tracking such info in 1991.
"I'm happily shocked to hear that…wow," Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready told Billboard upon learning about the sales stats.
The guitarist humbly recalled recording the album, saying "We had no idea that it was going to ever do that well. I just felt like it was a really cool record and that I was in a good band."
A cool record and a good band? Understatement of the century. Mr. McCready, you are too modest.
Ten is one of the best albums ever.
Do you own a copy of Ten? What track is your favorite? Ours is "Black." I know someday you'll be a star, in somebody else's sky, but why, why, why can't it be, can't it be mine?
