Has it been 20 years already? It has, indeed. Grunge rockers Pearl Jam will celebrate their momentous 20th anniversary with a performance at Neil Young's annual Bridge School Benefit this October, according to guitarist Stone Gossard, who spoke to Billboard while promoting his new Brad record.
"The only thing we've got going on in October is Bridge School, which is really special," Gossard said. "So that's our 20th anniversary, which is fitting. It's perfect: not too blown up. It's not about us, it's about all those kids that are on stage with you and about Neil Young and his commitment, his influence." The event is tentatively scheduled for the Shoreline Amphitheater on the weekend of October 23 and 25, Pearl Jam's appearance will be its eighth overall at the benefit since 1992.
The first-ever Pearl Jam gig was at Seattle's Off Ramp club on October 22, 1990. At the time, Pearl Jam went by the name Mookie Blaylock, which was a reference to an NBA player.
What is your favorite Pearl Jam song? Where were you on October 22, 1990? What was life like back then? Seems like forever ago...
