Pete Doherty to Do a Rap Record?

The Libertines/Babyshambles Pete Doherty is reportedly writing a hip-hop album, since he has a goal of becoming the British Eminem. The Sun reports that Doherty has asked The Streets' Mike Skinner to help him write the material.
According to the source, Doherty "actually said he wants to be Britain's answer to Eminem. He has told us he's started writing hip-hop songs." He is also said to be purchasing new clothes to help reinvent his image. What is he, Joaquin Phoenix? Remember when he said he was leaving acting behind to forge a rap career and the whole thing was documented by Casey Affleck for a film and it turned out to be a hoax? Could this be a similar trick? You never know…
Doherty is said to be debuting the new material during his upcoming Euro shows, so we'll find out then if he is the real deal.
Do you think disheveled rocker Pete Doherty makes a believable rapper?
