The book is Hook's third installment of memoirs. Previous releases were The Hacienda: How Not To Run A Club, about the famous Manchester nightclub at the heart of the ‘Madchester' scene, and Unknown Pleasures: Inside Joy Division, about his time in the seminal post-punk band.
Substance: Inside New Order promises to be a massive, comprehensive 768-page tome that will cover his time in New Order.
Hook played in New Order from the group's 1980 inception until he was fired from the band, under contentious circumstances, in 2007. In recent years, Hook has sued New Order and criticized former bandmate Bernard Sumner's own memoir.
Substance promises to be comprehensive, no holds-barred document recording the band's entire history. More than just a forum for the typical rock anecdote, also included is every tour itinerary and set list, laced with facts for completist tech-nerds who need to know about every piece of equipment used to build the sound that altered the course of pop music.
