The Who guitarist Pete Townshend will be honored at next year's Technical Excellence and Creativity Awards.

What's that mean? Well, Townshend will be given the Les Paul Award, which recognizes individuals or institutions that have set the highest standards of excellence in the creative application of audio and music technology.

And why was Townshend chosen, besides the obvious reasons?

Well, according to VH1 Classic Radio, it's for his "guitar wizardry and technical prowess in both studio and live music performance."

Pete will be feted with the award on January 25 in Anaheim, California.

    Congrats, Pete!
