For those who enjoy a bit of teasing, today may be one of your favorites of the year so far. It seems as if artists the world over are in a playful mood, and desire to send their fans into and tizzy by releasing short clips of forthcoming music. Phoenix, Haim, The War On Drugs, and Chvrches have all unveiled pieces of new music.
French indie stalwarts Phoenix first began teasing their new track "J-Boy" on social media last week, but now they have extended the feeling into a just-over-the-minute commercial. The new Calvin Klein advertisement that features the track is directed by Sofia Coppola, who is married to Phoenix frontman Thomas Mars, a relationship giving her privileged access to her source material. Watch the ad below.
Haim began teasing new music via billboards last week, and has now released a minute long video in which Danielle Haim plays a drum-beat as the camera slowly zooms in. The video ends with the words, "Haim, April 27". Watch the video below.
The War on Drugs have shared a teaser of new music on their Facebook and website. The band are planning to release a special 12" single for Record Store Day, titled "Thinking of a Place," but it remains unknown whether this has anything to do with it. Watch the clip below.
Chvrches has teased new music, a new version of their Every Open Eye track "Down Side of Me." It arrived via a teaser video directed by Kristen Stewart, which is in support of 7-inches for Planned Parenthood. Watch it below.
