Pitbull's "Original Hits" Due Out May 8
Mon, 09 Apr 2012 11:01:40
Before he was known as Mr. Worldwide, Pitbull recorded a series of radio hits and club anthems for TVT Records between 2004-07 that fueled his meteoric rise from streetwise Miami hustler to international superstar. TVT is now outta business, but the Pit hits live on.
The Orchard retraces Pitbull's early years with Original Hits, an 18-song retrospective that spans his first four albums and is the first-ever to gather classics like "Culo," "Ay Chico" and "Go Girl" in one place. Due out May 8 in the US, the album will be available on CD for $12.98. A digital version of the album will be out the same day for $11.99. If you want Pit to "give you everything," then you gotta grab this set.
"I wouldn't be where I am today without these songs. Each one represents a step on my journey from Mr. 305 to Mr. Worldwide," he says. "This album is a good introduction for newer fans and a reminder to longtime fans of how far we've come together."
The album offers a valuable primer for early Pitbull, covering his first three studio albums - M.I.A.M.I. (2004), El Mariel (2006) and The Boatlift (2007) - as well as his remix album Money Is Still a Major Issue (2005). The collection also includes three non-album rarities as bonus tracks: "Lemonhead Delight," "Guilt By Association" and "Se Acabo."
