The Last Song might be the most musical flick of the year.
Fueled by a soundtrack featuring jams by everyone from Maroon 5, Iron & Wine and The Raveonettes to hitmakers OneRepublic and the lovely film star herself Miss Miley Cyrus, The Last Song has got a diverse mix propelling each moment. Add to that a breakout performance by Miley Cyrus, stellar turns from stalwarts such as Greg Kinnear and Kelly Preston and a tearjerking, heartstring-tugging script and novel by Nicholas Sparks, and you've got a hit.
We thought it'd be only fitting to get exclusive playlists from the cast and men and women behind the film, so ARTISTdirect.com editor and Dolor author Rick Florino sat down with Miley Cyrus, Kelly Preston, Liam Hemsworth, filmmaker Julie Anne Robinson and author Nicholas Sparks for this exclusive playlist feature. Check out everyone's playlists below and in the video! Make sure to catch The Last Song when it hits theaters on Wednesday March 31, 2010!
Miley Cyrus's Playlist:
Miley Cyrus: "I listen to a lot of Nirvana, and a lot of Radiohead, and that's kind of what I was thinking my character Ronnie would listen to. We picked songs that we thought would go along well. The movie has such amazing songs and amazing artists in there. It’s great! This is really funny. My brother is 15, and he's in a Nirvana tribute band, and so every time I go to one of their shows, he always makes me sing "Smells Like Teen Spirit" with him. Always, it never fails! I’m like, "Please don’t make me do this today!" [Laughs] I'll always get up and sing with them, so it's really fun."
Kelly Preston's Playlist:
1. Rickie Lee Jones
2. Norah Jones
Kelly Preston: "My taste in music is all over the spectrum. I love everything from way back—Ricky Lee Jones. I love Norah Jones and U2!"
4. Elton John
5. Led Zeppelin
6. Pink Floyd
Kelly Preston: "I love all the old rock and roll—Elton John, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd. All of that old stuff!"
