The festival, attended by 50,000 music fans, which features headline acts The Prodigy , Stereophonics and Neil Young, is in its eighth year after being reincarnated in 2002. The promoters claim their aim is to recreate the hippy spirit of the famous festivals held on the island in the late 1960s, when thousands of music fans watched acts such as Jimi Hendrix, the Doors and Bob Dylan.

“That’s easier said then done, because I know I’m going to give you some of them and later I’ll think, SHIT! What did I pick that for? Fucking rubbish,” mutters Keith Flint, vocalist of The Prodigy as he struggles to come up with a list of artists currently spinning through his player.

His absent-mindedness is excusable though as the artist has been on a whirlwind of press dates and live events since the release of Invaders Must Die, the first album from The Prodigy that reunites Flint with chief songwriter Liam Howlett and MC/vocalist Maxim for the first time in over a decade. Surging with more sonic wattage than a satellite radio station on overload, Invaders Must Die is as wildly energetic and diverse as anything in the band’s storied career.

“This is hardest thing in the world for me right now,” Flint laughs before rattling off some longtime personal favorites from both the worlds of music and literature. The anguish in his voice becoming more and more apparent by the second before he finally ekes out his list.

    Keith Flint's Playlist:

    1. The Buggles

    2. Bonnie Tyler

    3. Cliff Richard

    4. Chief Harrison Orville

“That’s about all I can give right now, thanks.”
