Faith Presents, in conjunction with the Port Jefferson Ferry Co., and Business Improvement District (B.I.D.), will host the Eighth Annual Port Jefferson American Music Festival on October 12 and 13, 2013.
This mostly-free, Village-wide event features over 35 performers in rock, folk, country, jam and blues on four stages. It takes place in Port Jeff, Long Island, in New York.
Educational children's entertainment, food, a beer garden, and a great location like Port Jeff Village make for a very enjoyable weekend, for all ages.
The event will run Saturday and Sunday as the festival opens with three stages positioned throughout the village. Up to 12 acts during each day commencing at 1:00PM on Saturday and 12 noon on Sunday.
Stages by the Port Jeff Brewery, on the lawn of the Port Jeff Free Library, and a Main Stage at Memorial Park on the harbor across from Village Hall, will be jam packed with great performances until 6PM. Some highlights include jam favorites The Electrix and Jellyband, the blues of Red, White and Blues, singer/songwriters Katy Perlman, Cathy Kreger. Original artists: Dune Local, East, Butchers Blind and LOFI 3. Amazing young Long Island talent include the Michael Jazz Trio, HayWire, Como Bros. and the School of Rock.
The free Saturday night Ferry-Dock concerts are world class and is a tradition at the fest with thousands in attendance. In the past CJ Chenier, Grammy winner Buckwheat Zydeco, and Rosie Ledet graced the stage, this year will be a very special surprise.
When the ferry dock concert ends, the crowd on the dock will make their way on to the Port Jeff Ferry for the "Kerry Ferry" Blues & Brews Cruise, which has become a tradition at the PJMF, where local blues favorite Kerry Kearney will preside over a gathering of his faithful fans with his unique blend of blues, roots and Delta he calls "Psychedelta." Kerry's slide has blown away legends like Leslie West and The Allman Brothers Band's Warren Haynes! This is an American Music Fest tradition that you won't want to miss!
All events at the fest are free save for the Kerry Ferry.
Kerry Ferry is $10 and tickets do sell out in advance. The blues cruise boards at 11PM and returns at approximately 1:30AM.
