His Purple-ness Prince will kick off his "Welcome 2 America" tour with a string of arena dates in New York and New Jersey, marking his first run of East Coast shows since 2004. Welcome back, Prince.

Prince has only announced the first five dates of the tour, which will begin with a three-night stand at East Rutherford, NJ's Izod Center from December 14 through 17. That's right by my crib, so yeah, I am going. The Jersey shows will be followed by two shows at New York's Madison Square Garden on December 18 and 29. No, that's not a typo. The NYC gigs are not concurrent, which has many speculating that Prince will add more East Coast dates to fill in those calendar gaps.

Tickets for all five shows go on sale Saturday, October 30 at 10:00 AM Prince
