Akon isn't bringing sexy back to Sri Lanka, if 200 protestors have anything to say about it. According to a story published by the Associated Press, a mob of angry protesters, outraged over an upcoming Akon concert, took to throwing stones at the headquarters of a private, Sri Lankan radio and TV broadcaster, The Majaraja Organization, which is sponsoring the concert, yesterday. Four workers sustained minor injuries and the building sustained damaged, such as shattered windows. Some of the protestors were taken into custody after their actions.
The concert is scheduled for April in the capital of Colombo, but the protestors are trying to stop it. They also left placards at the scene which read, "Stop Akon's show." The reason for all the uproar? Many Sri Lankans have accused Akon of desecrating an image of Buddha in the video for "Sexy Chick." A clatch of scantily-clad ladies are dancing at a pool party, with a Buddha statue visible in the background.
Do you think Akon should cancel his show in light of these protests? Or do you think the show must go on?
