    K-Pop superhero PSY, rapper and mogul Jay-Z and Russian punk rockers Pussy Riot, who were jailed for opening their mouths, are among the few people who have been shortlisted for TIME's influential Person of the Year award for 2012.

    A total of 38 contenders were revealed.

    Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert also made the nominees list.

    The magazine's editors will chose the winner and reveal it on December 14.
