Finnish symphonic metal legends Stratovarius —and trust us, they are legends— are back with the new album Eternal, out in September via earMUSIC. Vocalist Timo Kotipelto submitted to a Take Aim interrogation, revealing what keeps Stratovarius going after all these years.
He also supplied a succinct rundown of his career and revealed how he got Viking-specific on a song.

Timo Kotipelto is a Finnish-born singer and a frontman of Stratovarius. Kotipelto joined Stratovarius 1994 and has done several world tours with the band. He is known for his melodic vocal style and can reach very high notes. Timo studied vocals in the beginning of his career and lately he has also been teaching every now and then. I would probably be working on the radio. That's what I have done before starting off my music career. Or worked at the music store. Who knows? After college, I was studying economics for one year but then I decided to start studying music. And that was it.
Any non-music hobbies, talents or skills?
I do like sports, reading and watching movies. I was training judo when I was younger. Nowadays, it's mostly jogging, gym and other outdoor activities.
