Queen Latifah (aka Dana Owens) has been tapped to host this year's Nobel Peace Prize Concert, which will be held in Oslo, Norway, on December 11.
"I'm thrilled to be a part of this year's concert and to help celebrate such amazing individuals who have each worked so hard on behalf of children's rights to education," the rapper, actress and TV host said.
This year's Nobel Prize Concert will honor Kailash Satyarthi and Malala Yousafzai, chosen by the Norwegian Nobel Committee for "their struggle against the oppression of children and young people, and for the right of all children to education."
"The Nobel Prize Concert is the most popular television production created during Nobel Week in December in Oslo and Stockholm. We are very pleased that Queen Latifah has agreed to host this year's musical tribute to Kailash Satyarthi and Malala Yousafzai," says Geir Lundestad, director of the Norwegian Nobel Institute.
The Nobel Peace Prize is the most prestigious award in the world, honoring icons such as Mother Teresa, Nelson Mandela, Mikhail Gorbachev, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Barack Obama, Kofi Annan, Al Gore and other prominent individuals and organizations.
