Every Day With Rachael Ray magazine is searching for the country's best, undiscovered burger chef who will earn a spot at the prestigious Burger Bash® competition during the 2011 Food Network South Beach Wine & Food Festival. The chosen contender will go on to compete against more than twenty of the country's famed chefs including Bobby Flay, Spike Mendelsohn, Masaharu Morimoto, Michael Symon, Jose Garces and more.
The Amstel Light Burger Bash Presented by Allen Brothers and hosted by Rachael Ray is the biggest and most anticipated burger event of the year. The country's top chefs and restaurants are chosen to compete against one another in hopes of bringing home a coveted award. The biggest is the Amstel Light People's Choice Award that goes to the best burger according to the thousands in attendance who cast their vote after tasting their favorite. The Allen Brothers Golden Grill Award goes to the best burger according to a judging panel made up of influential food experts. Last is the Heinz Best Dressed Burger that goes to the burger with the most innovative toppings.
In the last few weeks, the magazine gathered submissions from readers who nominated their favorite burgers served by independently owned restaurants across the country. The staff then narrowed down the entries to the three best chefs. These three - Paul Malvone (Boston Burger Company), Tommy Up (PYT Burger/Philadelphia) and Mauricio Oliveros (Frank-N-Burger/Long Island, NY) - will face-off on the Rachael Ray Show on January 13th, 2011 and prepare their burger entry to be judged by the 2010 Amstel Light People's Choice Award winner Chef Michael Symon and the editor-in-chief of Every Day With Rachael Ray, Liz Vaccariello.
The winning contender jet off to Miami, Florida where they will compete in the Burger Bash® that take place on February 24th.
"The magazine wanted to show that lesser known cooks can hold their own at the biggest and most respected burger competition in the country, says Every Day With Rachael Ray Editor-in-Chief Liz Vaccariello. "With the help of our readers, who nominated them, and our test kitchen staff, who tested and tasted them, I think we found three great contenders!"
