Mon, 09 May 2016 11:52:57
Radiohead released their ninth studio LP, A Moon Shaped Pool yesterday, May 8. The album is up for sale at Radiohead's website. Currently only available digitally, the follow-up to 2011's King of Limbs will be available in CD and vinyl editions on June 17. There is also a special edition slated for release in September, which includes 32 pages of artwork. The album's tracklist appears to be in alphabetical order (!). A Moon Shaped Pool is also available on iTunes and for streaming via Apple Music and TIDAL.
A Moon Shaped Pool features both singles released last week, "Burn The Witch," and "Daydreaming." The Chris Hopewell-directed stop-motion video, "Burn The Witch," was counted among our Top Music Videos from last week. The video for "Daydreaming" was directed by Paul Thomas Anderson.
Back in January fans began speculating on the likelihood of Radiohead releasing new music this year when it became known that the band had registered a new company, Dawn Chorus LLP. Previously, Radiohead had also established companies before springing surprise releases In Rainbows and The King of Limbs. Then, last week, the band began deleting their social media accounts and made their website a blank screen.
Radiohead embark on a world tour this month consisting of 22 dates, many of which are co-headlining festivals. The band will play a pair of dates at New York's Madison Square Garden in July. Then in August they'll play shows in California; at Los Angeles' Shrine Stadium on the 4th and 8th; and Golden Gate Park's Outside Lands on the 6th. Radiohead's tour comes to a close with a pair of concerts in Mexico City in early October.
