Radiohead's A Moon Shaped Pool is set to be released on Spotify. The album, which was released on May 8th, has not yet been made available on Spotify, but all that will change come June 17th, reports The Verge. The first single off the record, "Burn the Witch," has been available to stream on the service since its release on May 3rd, and the second single, "Daydreaming," became available a few days after.
Pitchfork reminds us that, "The Spotify availability is notable, considering Thom Yorke's contentious relationship with the service. In 2013, Yorke and Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich pulled their music from Spotify in protest of the streaming service's business model. "The reason is that new artists get paid f*** all with this model. It's an equation that just doesn't work," Godrich tweeted. "Make no mistake new artists you discover on #Spotify will not get paid. meanwhile shareholders will shortly being rolling in it," Yorke tweeted. In an interview, Yorke called Spotify "the last desperate fart of a dying corpse."
Last weekend, Radiohead played Barcelona, Spain's Primavera Sound, their second show of the year. They are next set to play June 17th in Reykjavik, Iceland at Secret Solstice Festival. From there, Radiohead's tour will take them to multiple festivals around the globe as well as six headlining gigs. They will be making stops at Nos Alive Fest in Lisbon, Portugal, Lollapalooza in Chicago, Osheaga Music and Arts Festival in Montreal, Canada, as well as multiple others in July. The last concert currently on their schedule is an appearance at Austin City Limits.
