Radiohead Seals the Deal On U.S. Release Date

As reported by ARTISTdirect a few weeks back, Radiohead has finally wrapped up its looming deal with ATO Records Group, the RCA-related label co-founded by Dave Matthews. The first release under the agreement will be the physical CD version of In Rainbows on January 2. The album has been available on a digital, 'pay what you want' basis through Radiohead.com since October 10. While the extent of Radiohead's contract is unclear, the band has been given its own ATO imprint (TBD Records), so it's hard to imagine them going anywhere for a while. According to Billboard.com, one of the major selling points of ATO was the involvement of Phil Costello, Capitol's former senior VP of promotion and marketing and a former Radiohead cohort from its many years at EMI. As for the TBD name, a spokesperson told Billboard "we ran into trouble in trying to clear all previously discussed potential label names."
"Bodysnatchers" and "Jigsaw Falling Into Place" are both being worked as leadoff singles for the record. The deluxe CD/LP "discbox" version of In Rainbows is set to ship early next month from orders placed at the band's site. A 2008 tour announcement is expected soon.
