Since it's opening in 1942, the 100 club has hosted many artists such as B.B.King, the Rolling Stones, the Kinks, Oasis, and the Sex Pistols to name but a few. The club had recently been threatened with closure, because of financial pressures as have many smaller fringe clubs across the country, but after a high-profile campaign supported by Sir Paul McCartney and Ronnie Wood, a recent sponsorship deal with the shoe company Converse has saved the 100 Club from an uncertain future.

    Good songwriters deserve recognition, and The Kinks frontman Ray Davies and Scottish singer Donovan are to get theirs when they are inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in June! Congrats, gents!

    The class of 2014 will also include British rocker Graham Gouldman of the band 10cc, singer/songwriter Mark James, who wrote the Elvis Presley classic "Suspicious Minds" and Jim Weatherly, who penned Gladys Knight & the Pips hits "Neither One of Us" and "Midnight Train to Georgia."

    Other possible inductees included Madonna, Vince Gill, Cyndi Lauper, Heart's Ann Wilson and Nancy Wilson, Cat Stevens, Linda Perry and Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page and Robert Plant.

    There is always NEXT year for those amazing talents.

    The inductions are set for June 12 in NYC.
