It appears that Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich is working with the Red Hot Chili Peppers on their first album in five years. It was previously reported that Danger Mouse was working with the Los Angeles-based foursome on their upcoming record.
Drummer Chad Smith posted to Instagram saying, "Started Mixing the new record today!@nigelgod at the helm." Back in February, Anthony Kiedis had stated that the band were "in the home stretch" of finishing the record, adding about working with Danger Mouse, "We had written two dozen songs before we got with him. [Danger Mouse] is like, 'Let's keep a few of those, but let's go write all new songs in the studio. We're looking at each other like, 'Dude, we kind of already wrote the songs, bro.' He's like, 'No, I like to write new ones in the studio.' So, in honor of accommodating this new process, we wrote all new songs, and it's a good thing we did."
The Red Hot Chili Peppers last released I'm With You via Warner Bros. Records back in 2011. This will be the first album by the band not produced by Rick Rubin since 1989's Mother's Milk. The still untitled album has had no release date mentioned as of yet, but speculation suggests that the record should be out later this year or sometime in 2017.For more on the Red Hot Chili Peppers, check out:
